Well Muttley's second day of shooting, on 7 November went well. For various reasons he didn't get as many retrieves and was a bit frustrated by some things. BUT I was very proud of him as one bird went down into a miscanthas grass field. Miscanthas is very dense and tall grass used for bio-fuel. People didn't think the bird would be found as no one was quite sure where it had dropped, and it was about 4 metres in (we thought). We shoved in 2 labs, one spaniel and Muttley. After a minute or so people were saying, 'no, we're not going to get that one; at least it was dead so not suffering.' Then out popped Muttley, partridge in his mouth. Everyone was so impressed. Brilliant when the LMs beat the labs at their own game :-)
Last Sunday found us at the HPRGA show at Stoneleigh. Elke performed well and came 2nd. We stayed at my brother & sister-in-law's house. They have 3 young lads, the middle of whom adores the dogs. It was a good show for them to come to as it was small and informal and relatively 'short'.
Today I have been on a doggie day without my dogs - to the LM breed seminar. Really excellent day and I learnt a lot about breed confirmation. Very interesting to go over the dogs when I got home and work out how they measure up....:o
Next Saturday we are off shooting again.
