On 31 January Elke went to the Stoke on Trent Gundog show where she won her Post Graduate Class, beating her cousing Lionel. Thank  you to judge Alan Hunter. Congratulations to friend Dougie who won Best of Breed, and Elke's 1/2 sister winning Best Pup in Breed and Reserve Best Pup in Show.

Always good to see our munsterlander friends at these shows. And on 7th Feb we are off to the Large Munsterlander Club show - even more munsters to see there.

The weekend before the end of the shooting season found Muttleyand me out working again. He did a mixture of beating and retrieving. The dogs had teddies for Christmas. Ian named them Sodom and Gomorrah as the were destined for destruction(!) Here is a picture of them:

Well Muttley's second day of shooting, on 7 November went well. For various reasons he didn't get as many retrieves and was a bit frustrated by some things. BUT I was very proud of him as one bird went down into a miscanthas grass field. Miscanthas is very dense and tall grass used for bio-fuel. People didn't think the bird would be found as no one was quite sure where it had dropped, and it was about 4 metres in (we thought). We shoved in 2 labs, one spaniel and Muttley. After a minute or so...

31st October 2015

Today Muttley and I have been shooting. He's only been once before a couple of years ago and it was really good to see how he's matured into things a bit.
He was really keen to get to birds when they fell out of the sky, didn't always manage to cope with big birds that weren't dead, but managed the partridge really well.
He did a few really good retrieves, including down a steep bank into a wood in thickish cover, and was keen to hunt for dea...
